Cockroach and rodent evidence was among the reasons cited for food business closure orders served in August 2026, the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) reported on 10 September. The details included live and dead cockroaches, rodent droppings and a live rodent in a cold room.
Environmental Health Officers in the HSE and FSAI officers served three Closure Orders and four Prohibition Orders during the month. The closures, issued under the FSAI Act 1998, went to Mini India in Dublin 2, Bartkus Uncle Meat Limited in Cavan and Darkey Kelly’s in Dublin 8.
All four Prohibition Orders, issued under EU regulations, were served on Live5D Health in Boyle, Co Roscommon.
An online listing does not necessarily mean the problem remains unresolved. Closure Orders and Improvement Orders remain in the FSAI’s online enforcement reports for three months after a premises is determined to have corrected its food safety issue.
