Disconnect the HVR21B power plug from the outlet before any cleaning or maintenance. Use a soft cloth with lukewarm water for removable dirt; use only diluted neutral kitchen detergent for stubborn dirt, wipe away detergent with a separate lukewarm-water cloth, and finish by drying every surface. Do not spray water onto or into the cabinet, and do not use abrasive cleaners or chemical mixtures. Keep the door seals and ventilation openings clean, but stop if cleaning would require access to covered pipes, electrics or other internal parts.
Before you begin
Work only with the appliance disconnected from the power outlet. Keep your hands dry when handling the plug, grip the plug itself rather than pulling the supply cord, and keep liquid away from the socket and electrical parts. If you cannot disconnect it safely, do not begin cleaning.
This guide covers routine owner-safe cleaning of accessible surfaces, removable shelves, door seals and accessible ventilation openings. Electrical repair, refrigeration work and dismantling remain outside its scope.
Safe cleaning sequence
- Wipe easily removable dirt with a cloth dipped in lukewarm water.
- For stubborn dirt, use a cloth dipped in diluted neutral kitchen detergent.
- Remove the detergent residue with another cloth dipped in lukewarm water.
- Wipe the cleaned surfaces dry so that no cleaning moisture remains.
Remove edible oils, butter and other fats from plastic interior parts promptly because they can damage the plastic. If removable shelves are very dirty or smell, remove and wash them without using abrasive cleaners or chemical mixtures.
Door seals
A dirty or damaged door seal allows cold air to escape. Wipe dirt from the seal as soon as it appears, using the same gentle lukewarm-water method, and do not scrub it with an abrasive tool. If a seal is damaged rather than dirty, contact the service centre for replacement instead of attempting to repair or modify it yourself.
Exterior and ventilation openings
Wipe dirt from the accessible exterior with a soft cloth and dry the surface afterwards. Never hose the fridge or direct water spray onto or into it, even when cleaning the outside.
Occasionally clean accessible ventilation openings at the bottom or top gently with a vacuum cleaner. Take care not to damage any water or refrigerant pipe behind the cover, and stop rather than reaching into or removing a cover.
Dust on the power plug can create a fire risk. With the plug disconnected, remove dust from its pins using a dry cloth only; never use a wet or damp cloth on the plug.
Checks before reconnecting
Check whether the supply cord is damaged, whether the power plug has become hot, and whether the plug connects firmly to the outlet. If the supply cord is damaged, leave the appliance unplugged and contact the dealer or an authorised service centre. If an LED, its cover or anything else appears damaged or questionable, contact the dealer or authorised service centre and do not repair, replace or disassemble the part yourself.
Reconnect the HVR21B only after the accessible surfaces are dry and the cord and plug pass these visual checks.
If the fridge will not be used for a prolonged period
Disconnect the power plug and leave the refrigerator doors ajar for two or three days so the interior can dry and odours and mould are less likely to develop.
Stop and call for service
Stop cleaning and contact the dealer or an authorised service centre if you find a damaged cord, damaged seal, damaged LED or cover, smoke, a burning smell, or any condition that would require repair, replacement, disassembly or access to internal parts. Do not reconnect an appliance with a damaged supply cord.
